When someone dies, nobody hands you a list.

Afterwards is that list. Fifty-two steps for settling an estate in England and Wales, in the order they actually happen, with the deadlines that carry a penalty marked clearly. For iPhone and iPad.

In the right order

Nothing can start before the death is registered, and the grant of probate gates most of what follows. The app only shows you what you can do now.

Deadlines that bite

Some dates are statutory, some cost money, and most guidance treats them the same. Here they do not look the same.

Sourced and current

Every step links to the GOV.UK or HMRC page it came from, with the date it was last checked. Corrections reach you without waiting for an app update.

What it costs

The first three sections are free: the first few days, the funeral, and telling people. That is the part with a clock on it, and the part you reach while still in shock. No account, no sign-up, nothing to dismiss.

The rest — valuing the estate, probate, settling debts, distributing what is left, the document store and the export — is a single one-time purchase. Not a subscription.

What it is not

It is not legal advice, and it does not pretend to be a solicitor. It organises publicly available guidance and points you at the source. Where a step is one where executors commonly become personally liable, it says so plainly and tells you to get advice.

It covers England and Wales only. Scotland and Northern Ireland work differently enough that a nearly-right checklist would be worse than none.

Your information stays yours

There is no account and no server holding what you enter. The estate lives on your device and in your own iCloud, where we cannot read it. You can share it with a brother or sister directly, and withdraw that at any time. The privacy policy spells out every field the app stores.
